Well, on May 17th, 2019 at 7:00pm GUM will be hosting the "I Have A Dream" Youth Art Show and Silent Auction in which our students will bring dreams to life through the art of photography! Come enjoy free food, live music and incredible art. All proceeds go to awesome initiatives like sending kids to camp and alleviating poverty in Galveston! About The Youth Art Collective

Here at Galveston Urban Ministries one of our goals is to inspire and encourage the next generation of leaders. One of the ways we do that is with the Youth Art Collective (YAC). In the YAC we take low income youth and partner them with professional artists so that they can be inspired to create while also learning valuable skills. At the end of the year the students take the art they create and put on an art show in order to raise money for things like summer camp, adult job training, and other poverty alleviation initiatives in their community.

About This Year’s Theme

The theme of this year’s Youth Art Show and Silent Auction is “I Have A Dream”. To prepare for this year’s art show we sent out surveys asking the three following questions: 1. What was your dream when you were a kid, 2. What is your dream now and 3. What’s your dream for your community? The response was overwhelming! We received over 100 responses from right here in Texas all the way to Greece! Our students then took those dreams and used them to create the art for this years show.
