School Supply Store- Making school essentials affordable for low-income families

Meet Domigea, she's an A+ student that loves to dance! Domigea's family is just one of the many Galveston families that visit our annual School Supply Store (SSS). With your generosity, Domigea's mom would be able to provide her with what she needs to start

the school year off right.

Galveston Urban Ministries' School Supply Store allows Galveston parents to purchase school supplies for their children, at 80% off the retail price, making school essential items like backpacks, binders, and notebooks, affordable for low-income families. GUM's philosophy on assistance is that providing discounted items, instead of free items, empowers parents/guardians to participate in providing for their families and shop with dignity. Income from the SSS is used to purchase more school supplies for the store.

Ways you can help!

1. Donate NEW school supplies - bring items by August 9th to the GUM Office

2. Donate Online via our website - follow the donate links, then under “Please direct my

donation to” select School Supply Store and we will do the shopping for you!

3. Volunteer - we need people to help with shopping, preparing packets, and praying over

the backpacks!

• Folders with pockets only, Folders with pockets & brads
